MILLBURY, MASSACHUSETTS, December 7, 2009Millbury Savings Bank has donated $2,500 to Habitat for HumanityMetroWest/Greater Worcester, a non-profit organization that provides simple, decent, affordable housing to low-income families. The money will be used in the construction of the housing unit at 41 MacArthur Drive, which recently broke ground.
“We’re proud to support Habitat for Humanity,” said Millbury Savings Bank President and Chief Executive Officer William J. Walsh. “We are committed to partnering with organizations that improve the quality of life for families who live and work in our community.”
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds affordable houses with the help of homeowner families at no profit. New homeowners are required to contribute between 400 and 500 hours of labor to build their home or homes of others.
Building on MacArthur Drive broke ground on November 1 and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2010.
