Millbury Savings Bank recently made a $750 donation to the Sutton Food Pantry, a non-profit organization that provides food to nearly 200 households in the town.
“After visiting the pantry, I was struck by the number of Sutton families they assist, week in and week out,” said Millbury Savings Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Robert J. Morton. “We’re pleased to be able to help make ends meet for people who are without food, and plan to do even more in the future.”
According to Director Michelle Edelstein, the pantry currently serves 193 households in Sutton, with 80 percent of those households averaging four family members. She said that summer puts an added strain on the pantry’s supplies, which are obtained solely through donations , because children who typically eat through in-school meal programs are home for breakfast and lunch.
“On behalf of all of the families and individuals who use the Sutton Food Pantry, I’d like to thank Millbury Savings Bank for their donation,” said Ms. Edelstein. “We’re extremely proud of what we do and will put this donation to work to meet the needs of our town’s families.”
